Most people are struck with lower back pain at one point or another in their lives, and depending on the severity, it can have a debilitating impact on the patient’s daily routine. There is no ‘quick fix’ for persistant pain, but there are certain things you can do to speed up the recovery process. At Achilles Physio, we’ve outlined our tried and tested top tips to a timely recovery below.
Don’t Put More Strain On The Back
One of the worst things which you can do when you have a back problem is to put more strain on it by acting like it’s not an issue. All you’re going to do in that case is aggravate the injury and make it last longer, which is then going to impact your health further. For a speedy recovery, it is advised that you try and avoid doing anything which will put more pressure on the lower back until the pain has lifted.
Visit A Physiotherapist
One of the fastest ways to ensure a return to health is a physio session. Apply Ice And Heat Regularly
Sometimes lower back pain is caused by inflammation and swelling. What you’ll need to do to speed up the recovery is to put ice on the injury to reduce the swelling, and then heat to stimulate the recovery of the affected areas. It is recommended that you set ice on the injury for the first few days, and then when the pain has lessened slightly, you can add the heat to speed up the recovery process. As well as making your recovery faster, this will also help to ease the discomfort you’ll feel.
